General

  • For what occasions can I hire a bellydancer?

You can hire a bellydancer for any type of event! Luna can be booked for corporate events, theme parties, birthday parties, weddings, gala nights, performances in restaurants, shops, schools, nursery homes, ...
Please do note: bellydancing is a tasteful artform and NOT stripping. Therefore, Luna doesn't perform at bachelor parties or other all male events. Sorry guys!

  • Is tipping allowed?

Tipping is a typical oriental gesture and is very much appreciated, if given in a proper and respectful way, for example by putting at the shoulder straps or hip belt of the dancer's costume, without touching the dancer. Read more about tipping here. Luna will never sollicite for tips, tipping is 100% voluntary, and is considered a token of appreciation for the dancer. Tips are not a part of the dancer's normal wage.

  • Are we allowed to video/take pictures?

Yes, but for private use only! Pictures/videos cannot be spread without permission. Also, please be so kind to give a copy to the dancer!
Would you like a picture of the birthday boy/bride/children/... with the dancer? Please indicate so on beforehand and I'll be happy to make time for it!

  • What kind of music will be used?

According to your personal preferences, music can range from classical oriental songs, to even modern pop songs (such as Shakira, Tarkan, ...). When booking your show we can discuss your music preferences!

  • What clothes does the dancer wear?

A typical outfit for a bellydancer is the bedlah: a long skirt with bra combination, like portrayed on most of the pictures of this website. All these costumes are tasteful, well maid and completely decorated with pearls and beads. Most of the costumes Luna wears are hand made costumes from Turkey or Egypt. Most of the time I will be dancing in bare belly. Special costume desires (such as covered belly or shoulders, costume in a certain color, ... ) have to be indicated and discussed when hiring a dancer.

  • Which props are used in a show?

A standard show includes, next to classical bellydancing songs, a dance with veil, a dance with finger cymbals, a spicy drumsolo and a finally an audience interaction song. Additional props can be: cane, fan veils, isis wings, voi, double veil, ... Please ask about these upon hiring! Some props (like isis wings) require extra dancing space.

Practical

  • Requirements for a succesful show
    • a clean and heated changing room, which can be locked (please, no toilet or room that is used by other staff members or guests, outside windows have to be blinded as well)
    • an open dance space with a clean and safe floor (I dance bare foot!)
    • a good sound system with CD-player, the music must be heard well on the dance floor
    • for shows outside, an alternative for bad weather has to be thought of
    • a contact person, who welcomes the dancer on the night of the event, shows her the dressing room, takes care of the music and payment and ensures the dancer's safety.

  • How can I hire you?

Pleace contact me or fill out the price quote form for a price indication. Be sure to mention the date (hour), place and the occasion of your event! (f.e. wedding, theme party, ...) Luna will then send you a complete price quote. After confirming your booking by phone or e-mail, the requested date will be blocked in my calendar. All practical details (time, music or costume preferences, ...) will be confirmed through e-mail. This e-mail is your booking confirmation!

  • How for in advance should I make the booking?

The sooner, the better! Some months tend to sell out quickly. Especially if you are interested in hiring multiple dancers, it is recommended to book several months in advance.

  • How does payment go?

Performances are preferably paid in cash before start of the performance. All payments through my account have to be made prior to the performance date. For shows that require long travelling time or shows with mutiple dancers that need rehearsals, a prepayment will be requested. Please mention on beforehand if you would like an invoice. Luna often does multiple shows in one night. Therefore, timing is key. In case a show cannot start at the time we agreed upon previously, an extra charge of 25€ for each 30 min. waiting time will be charged.

  • What if I have to cancel the show?

Please contact me as soons as possible in case of cancellations, so I can deblock the date in my calendar for other performances. Cancellations of solo shows are free of charge up to one week prior to the event date. Shows of the showteam can be cancelled with no charge up to 3 weeks before the scheduled date.
